Deviled eggs: hard boiled eggs, cut in half, topped with extra creamy yolk. Tastes great by itself, with crackers, toast, etc. for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Overall, a pretty versatile snack.
In all honesty, before I made this recipe, I had never even tried deviled eggs. I just never thought about them.
Then, one day, my mom asked me to help her make some fancy hors d’oeuvres for a dinner guest, and this popped into my mind. Even if I never ate these, I had heard of them before and they simple struck me as something fancy.
And I can honestly tell you that these were amazing.
They’re made with 6 simple ingredients: mayo, mustard, pepper, paprika, salt, and, of course, egg.
All you do is mix everything (except the paprika) until smooth, then pipe the mixture into the egg whites. Sprinkle with the paprika to garnish.
- 6 eggs, hard-boiled
- 1-2 tbsp mayonnaise
- ½ tsp mustard (whatever type)
- salt and pepper to taste
- ½ tsp paprika
- Cut all the hard-boiled eggs in half. Place all the yolks in a bowl. Smash them with a fork until somewhat smooth. Add mustard and enough mayonnaise to give you smooth yolks. Add salt and pepper.
- Pipe into the halved eggs whites. Top with paprika.
