This Basil Berry Galette is the easy way to make a berry pie, for those days when you want want a refreshing dessert that doesn’t take too long to make. This pastry is made with a pie crust and a berry pie filling, but, unlike a traditional pie, this is free-form and doesn’t have a top crust.
It’s made with a small handful of basil, which adds complexity to the flavor (I think a bit of mint or rosemary or lavender would pair well with berries too, if you wanted to try one of those instead of basil — but I love basil with berries or peaches!). (more…)
These S’mores Pop Tarts are flaky pastries filled with chocolate ganache and topped with a marshmallow-like meringue.
The pastry dough is a buttery pie crust. To make this extra flaky, work with cold butter and leave chunks of butter in the dough. When you roll out the dough, you will stretch the butter and the dough will have that layered effect. (more…)

If you’ve never made pumpkin pie from scratch, this recipe is definitely a great place to start. It is rich, creamy, and has just a slight kick to it (thanks to the rum). (more…)
Thanksgiving is a great time for pies. It seems like normally people have pumpkin pie, but at my house we have all kinds of pies for Thanksgiving, including this delicious apple one.
This Dutch Apple Pie was very well received within my family, so I’m guessing that I will be making it again come Thanksgiving. What is really great about it is the sweet crunch, due to both the apples and the cookie-like topping. (more…)
Yes, this is yet another apple recipe (don’t worry, more variety is soon to come!), but trust me, this is something worth trying. I’d say this dessert is a cross between an apple cobbler and an apple pie. I decided on classifying it as a pie due to its shape and overall texture, and either way this is simply a delicious treat.
