Here’s another oatmeal recipe, only this one is a bit more decadent than the ones before it: chocolate brownie oatmeal.
Reminiscent of a brownie, this oatmeal tastes amazing with some chocolate chips on top. I added white and milk chocolate chips, as well as some slivered almonds, and it was amazing.
The best part is that this oatmeal is actually HEALTHY! This oatmeal gets its rich flavor with just a little bit of unsweetened cocoa powder. To sweeten, a single banana is added.
And, of course, if you want something just a little bit richer, you can add extra chocolate chips as I did, but you can still have a wonderful breakfast without them.
For a super simple morning, you can make this the night before and reheat it for breakfast the next day. Alternatively, make double the recipe one morning and enjoy it two days in a row; this oatmeal tastes just as great on the second day.
- 1 cup milk or water
- ½ cup steel-cut oats
- 1 mashed banana
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- pinch of salt
- 1. Boil the milk or water. Reduce to medium heat. Add the oats (and any chia or flax seed if you wish). Add banana. Let sit.
- 2. Just before the oatmeal has been cooked all the way, add the vanilla, cocoa powder, and salt.
- 3. Serve with your choice of toppings (chocolate chips, nuts, fruit, etc.)
