Thanksgiving is a great time for pies. It seems like normally people have pumpkin pie, but at my house we have all kinds of pies for Thanksgiving, including this delicious apple one.
This Dutch Apple Pie was very well received within my family, so I’m guessing that I will be making it again come Thanksgiving. What is really great about it is the sweet crunch, due to both the apples and the cookie-like topping. (more…)
If you’re looking for a tasty twist on the classic vanilla cake, this oreo cake recipe is definitely the way to go.
I made this cake on Halloween, hence the orange, white and black sprinkles. You can just top your cake with oreo crumbles, or simply cover it with icing to keep the inside a surprise.
This is a simple, light, and delicious apple cake. It’s pretty basic, to make and to taste, but the fruity flavors of lemon, apricot, and apple combine perfectly to liven the cake up.
This cake is definitely a crowd-pleaser, so bring this to your next event and watch it disappear! (more…)
Yet another apple recipe, but in all honesty, this is probably the best one yet. This cake has just the right amount of fluffiness, a perfect balance of sweet and salty crumbles, it topped with a light cinnamony glaze, and has a delicious apple crunch!
This cake is great for any occasion too: breakfast, brunch, lunch, dessert. Bring it to a picnic or bake it for a formal dinner: everyone will be sure to wipe their plates clean! (more…)
Yes, this is yet another apple recipe (don’t worry, more variety is soon to come!), but trust me, this is something worth trying. I’d say this dessert is a cross between an apple cobbler and an apple pie. I decided on classifying it as a pie due to its shape and overall texture, and either way this is simply a delicious treat. It may come as a surprise to you that I actually have not had very good luck finding brownie recipes. That is, of course, until recently. I’ve been reading The SoNo Baking Company Cookbook (which has just beautiful photos and recipes), and found the perfect brownie recipe (for now, at least).
I’ve tweaked it just a bit, and this is truly a recipe you must try. These brownies aren’t even that hard to make if you exclude the ganache (and even that part isn’t that hard). Plus, these are a crowd-pleaser: I brought them to a picnic a couple weeks ago and they were a HUGE hit! (more…)
Though this cake probably hasn’t been in my family for that long, I copied it from my grandma’s voluminous binder of precious recipes. It has been a family favorite since before I was born, and has become a cake that is requested more than any other for birthdays. Store-bought carrot cakes can never top the quality of this one, and I have yet to try a carrot cake of near equivalence.
In other words, next time you bake a cake and happen to have three cups of carrots laying around, you should definitely try this recipe. (more…)
